（一）学术报告

题 目：Research and Implementation of Robotics Systems: Biomimetics and Rehabilitation Engineering

讲座内容：

The speaker will present some key research activity and work done by his research team in the NTU. He will focus on two major areas: Bio-inspired fish robots and Rehabilitation engineering. For the robotic fish, the mechanism design of undulating fin will be elaborated, while the clinical-engineering issues on rehabilitation will be discussed. The research methodology and outcomes will be demonstrated by illustration and video clips.

题 目：Publishing Your Good Work in Journals

讲座人：Low Kin Huat 教授 新加坡南洋理工大学机械与宇航工程学院

讲座内容：

The speaker will first share his experience in reviewing papers and editorial tasks for many top journals. He will highlight the common mistakes made by authors, especially those from China. The common reasons by the reviewers for accepting or rejecting a paper are also discussed. The speaker would then describe the assessment and the ranking of papers adopted by many top universities, in the recruitment, promotion and tenure exercises.In a later part of the talk, the key points for writing a good paper will be elaborated. The common weaknesses of a paper by authors, especially those first-time writers, will be discussed. The speaker will share his experience on the literature survey and reading of good papers, which are useful to any good paper writing. His background in Chinese education system and his later adaption in western world can be an inspiration to many. Examples of papers in poor or good quality will also be given to illustrate the respective weaknesses and strengths.

讲座内容：

First of all, the speaker will share his observation during these years in few university visits in China. He will also discuss the unique advantages of China in future world’s research standing. He would also highlight the strength and the weakness of postgraduate students from China studying in NTU. Examples of improvement throughout their candidature could be a good reference. In the speaker would share his observation on several renowned universities, including those in USA and Canada. He would elaborate more on Singapore’s education structures, which make NTU the top ranked university in the world.
